Time to get busy!

March is an active time in the garden and will be even more so for our community garden as we start to layout the beds and pathways and ready for autumn planting. Hamish Macallum from Meridian Designs will be working with us in March to get the foundations of the garden in place.

If you have a few hours spare on THURSDAY 11 and FRIDAY 12 MARCH 8.30am – 3pm please come along and help create our garden (and learn about garden design). Dig cafe will supply morning teas and lunches both days and there will be cuppas on tap, just contact Mary mary.park3@bigpond.com  or  Gen genwords@bigpond.net.au to rsvp for catering purposes. BYO shovel, rake, gloves and enthusiastic energy.

March is ideal for ground preparation and sowing seeds for the cooler months because the soil is still warm and hopefully we are passed the strongest summer heat; this makes for good germination. Just add water!

See the Garden Notes page and March Notes for more info on what to plant and when. Hope to see you in the garden!

Also a reminder of the NEXT PRODUCE EXCHANGE on SATURDAY 6 March, 10am under The Red Store Verandah in Lyons STreet, Newstead. No doubt tomatoes will be to the fore!
