Charlotte, who has cooked in restaurants in London and Hong Kong, trained with Stephanie Alexander and also worked as sous chef with Karen Martini at St Kilda’s highly lauded The George Melbourne Wine Room before running her own restaurant, Gourlay’s in Malvern.
Though now a full-time barrister, Charlotte retains her love of food and cooking. Diners raved about her first community fundraiser dinner at Welshmans Reef Winery last year.
This year, she’s chosen an Asian-influenced menu, on March 26 to be held at the garden itself. Funds raised will help pay the garden’s annual water bill and help develop a Mount Alexander Shire Council-supported project called The Shared Table which will build tables and seating on site.
Tickets at $50 for adults and $15 for children are on sale now but are expected to sell quickly.
“We are tremendously excited and pleased to have Charlotte here again and even more delighted that she’ll be including some of our garden produce on the menu,” Newstead Community Gardener Mary Park said.
For tickets, phone Georgina Duckett on 5476 2409. Ticket sales close March 14 and are limited, so book early and support our growing garden.
